Using the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS) to evaluate quality of nursery provision in England: some data concerning reliability

Summary

As the demand for research into quality of day care provision expands, so the need for reliable evaluation instruments becomes more acute. This short report describes data collected from 113 day nurseries using the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale (ECERS). Reliability analyses suggest that the ECERS is an effective research tool for evaluating specific aspects of quality of nursery provision.
