Abstract

A novel C/NiCo2O4 composite derived from Ni-Co-MOF compound is reported. A typical hydrothermal method followed with cation exchange was employed to get the nickel-cobalt binary metal-organic framework. After annealing the Ni-Co-MOF, the carbon containing NiCo2O4 composite was obtained successfully. The obtained C/NiCo2O4 anode displays superior electrochemical performance with initial specific capacity of 889 mAh g−1 at the current rate of 0.2 C, and 740 mAh g−1 at 0.2 C after 300 cycles. The cation exchange method shows promising application to design other binary/ternary metal oxides for Lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors.
