Although muscles of the urinary tract do lose some of their tone with age, the elderly do not have to accept incontinence as their lot. The authors describe how the lower urinary tract works; outpatient evaluation of the incontinent elderly; and effective behavior modification techniques, devices, drugs, and surgical procedures.
