A Structure of Discipline Concepts for DBAE

Abstract

Diagraraatic representations of the four art disciplines (aesthetics, criticism, history, production) are set forth as a basis for devising discipline-based art curriculum. Labels for the content and processes of inquiry within each discipline are presented in parallels that allow for interactive instruction and curriculum variety. Suggestions for fleshing out the structure of the diagram in terms of art education classroom practice are described.
