Abstract

An efficient preparative degradation of tazobactam [(2S,3R,5S)-3-methyl-7-oxo-3-(1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl-methyl)-4-thia-1-azabicyclo[3.2.0]-heptane-2-carboxylic acid 4,4-dioxide] to the metabolite M-1 [[S-(R∗,R∗)]-2-amino-3-methyl-3-sulfino-4-(1H-1,2,3-triazol-1-yl)butyric acid] without intermediacy of a chromatographic procedure is described.
