The long, hard road: drug metabolism in the lifetime of the DMDG

Pages 459-467 | Published online: 22 Sep 2008

Abstract

Special issues of Xenobiotica marked the 10th and 20th anniversaries of the DMDG. Within these, Drs David Case (1981) and Angus Bell and Mike Tarbit (1992) reviewed the state of the art of the science of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics at those times as applied within the pharmaceutical industry. Now the DMDG reaches the landmark of its 30th anniversary, which is again marked by this special issue of the journal. This review attempts to take a broad overview of the state of our science and the notable advances that have occurred over the past 10 years. As with the previous anniversary issues, the papers presented here are intended to provide a wider perspective on the impact of the advances within the science as applied to industrial drug metabolism.
