Abstract
Early detection of amblyopia requires several different visual acuity tests to confirm the diagnosis. Our prospective study compares two groups composed of pre-verbal children and verbal patients. Visual assessment in the non-verbal group is evaluated with the new Preferential Looking 20/20 Vision Tester and fixation patterns, whereas in the verbal group, the “E” game, or letters are compared to the results from the Preferential Looking 20/20 Vision Tester (PL 20/20 VT) to determine reliability in detecting amblyopia. Our findings indicate that the use of this instrument is valid only for verbal children.
