Abstract
This commentary reviews the papers in this special issue, highlights the importance of understanding the nature, prevalence, and potential impact of leadership in international schools, and provides a set of guiding questions for the reader to reflect upon the relevance and implications of the findings.

Xiu Cravens is an associate professor of practice in education policy and comparative and international education at Peabody College’s Department of Leadership, Policy, and Organizations. She serves as the associate dean for international affairs, the program director of the International Education Policy and Management M.Ed. program, and the director of Vanderbilt's U.S.-China Center for Education and Culture.
