The Persuasibility of Elderly Consumers

A Study of Locus on Control and Responsiveness to Fear Appeals

Pages 213-247 | Published online: 18 May 2012

Abstract

This article reports a cluster analytic reduction of the responses of 300 elderly consumers to 24 lifestyle statements. Of the three market segments uncovered and assessed by locus of control and responsiveness to fear appeals, only the ill and disabled elderly were found to be more external and persuasible.
