The virtues of civil courage and civil disobedience in the historical context of Namibia and South Africa

This article presents the general theoretical notion and importance of civil courage and civil disobedience, and then proceeds to consider its relevance to Namibian and South African societies—this is assessed in the context of both the apartheid and post-apartheid eras. It is concluded that civic courage and civil disobedience remain essential virtues for present-day Namibia and South Africa.
