360° virtual reality project to inspire future educators to be creators

ABSTRACT

Pre-service students in an elementary education program were involved in an educational technology course project where they created a virtual field trip using 360° virtual reality (VR) technology. As a result of the project, they acknowledged the benefits of using a 360° VR virtual field trip (VFT) in the classroom instruction and their intentions to use VFTs in their future classroom were positively changed. Maintaining stable VR technology tools and better communicating the unique contributions of VR VFTs with pre-service teachers are necessary to improve the practice.
