The Nick Norgan Award 2022

The Editors are pleased to announce that the Nick Norgan Award 2022 for the best paper published in Annals of Human Biology during 2021 has been awarded to:

Gabriele Scorrano for the following article:

The genetic and cultural impact of the Steppe migration into Europe. Annals of Human Biology, 2021, Vol. 48, No. 3: 223–233

In recognition of his contribution to the journal and to human biology in general, the Nick Norgan Award annually acknowledges the best paper from a number of high-impact research in the journal’s primary subject areas of human genetics, auxology, environmental physiology, epidemiology, ageing and global health.

Sponsored by Taylor & Francis a cash prize of £250 is awarded to the lead author of the winning paper as adjudicated by the editorial board.

Each year the editors evaluate all articles published in the previous volume and select the winning papers.

Criteria

The criteria for selection of papers will include judgement on the following items:

  1. Originality of work and potential to make impact in the field.

  2. Importance of the research question.

  3. Quality/sophistication of data analysis.

  4. Interpretation of the results.

  5. Quality of presentation.

Eligibility

The Nick Norgan Award is open to all authors. Every accepted article published within a given volume will be considered. There is no requirement for authors to actively nominate submissions.
