Daily measurements of the heights of two children from June 1984 to May 1985

Summary

Two children, a sister and a younger brother, were measured with regard to stature, head and neck height, iliospinal height, and trunk length, every morning and evening for one year. They were 7·5 years old and 6·6 years old, respectively, on the first day of the investigation. In both children, stature and trunk length, but not the other dimensions, were longer in the morning and shorter in the evening. Almost all the year's statural elongation was due to lower limb elongation, but there was a sharp upward turn in April–May which resulted from an increase in trunk length. The head and neck height curves were flat throughout the year.

Zwei kinder, eine Schwester und ein jüngerer Bruder, wurden jeden Morgen und Abend während eines Jahres bezüglich Körperhöhe, Kopf- und Halshöhe, Iliospinalhöhe und rumflänge gemessen. Am ersten Tag der Untersuchung waren sie 7, 5 und 6, 6 Jahre alt. Bei beiden Kindern waren Körperhöhe und Rumpflänge, aber nicht die anderen Dimensionen am Morgen grösser und am Abend kleiner. Fast die gesamte Körperhöhenzunahme des Jahres entstand durch Beinverlängerung, es gab jedoch einen scharfen Aufwärtstrend im April und Mai, der aus einer Zunahme der Rumpflänge resultierte. Die Kurven für Kopf- und Halshöhe waren während des gesamten Jahres flach.

Deux enfants, une fille et son jeune frère, ont été mesurés chaque matin et chanque soir pendant un an pour la stature, la hauteur de la tète et de la nuque, la hauteur iliospinale et la longueur du tronc. Ils étaient respectivement àgés de 7, 5 et 6, 6 ans, au premier jour des examens. Chez les deux enfants, la stature et la longueur du tronc étaient plus grandes le matin et plus courtes le soir, mais non les autres dimensions. Presque toute l'augmentation staturale de l'année était due à l'élongation du membre inférieur, mais il y avait une angulation vers le haut en avril-mai, qui résultait d'un accroissement de la longueur du tronc. Les courbes de hauteur de la tète et de la nuque restaient plates tout au long de l'année.
