We are delighted to welcome Professor Jennifer M. Case as new Associate Editor of the European Journal of Engineering Education. She joined the editorial team in January 2019.

We invited Jenni Case because of her sharp mind and outstanding scholarship in higher education, focusing mainly on the student experience of learning in science and engineering education. We warmly recommend a browse through her long list of publications.

Her international experience, outlook and reach are particularly important assets for this European journal with a global readership. She brings perspectives from a career on two continents. Since 2017 she is Head and Professor in the Department of Engineering Education at Virginia Tech, USA. She was previously in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, where she became a full professor in 2012 and is still an honorary professor. She was the founding president of the South African Society for Engineering Education (SASEE).

In the following pages Jenni Case will introduce herself, by productively challenging a common way of framing our work in engineering education. Please enjoy!
