Some risky reflections

Abstract

Classical risk theory is valuable in practice perhaps only when conditions are more stable and static than has been the case in recent years. There is little evidence of any likely return to idealised conditions in the foreseeable future even if some countries are now experiencing a down turn in inflation and interest rates.
