ABSTRACT
This paper provides a critical reading of Chester Finn's recent book We Must Take Charge: Our Schools and Our Future, carefully examining and critiquing Finn's underlying assumptions about education. The paper calls into question the values espoused by Finn, and offers a more humane and child-centered reinterpretation of his argument.
