Abstract
In Part I an expression for the negative exposure required to produce the first excellent print in the case of a close-up unshaded scene is developed from first principles using the latest available knowledge, and it is shown that exposures calculated on the lines of the theory laid down agree with accepted British practice. In Part II the investigation is continued for other types of scene, following which a complete exposure table is evaluated.
