Pages 435-446 | Published online: 26 Mar 2015

Abstract

Multipath Fading is a severe phenomenon affecting the performance of radio propagation channels including the indoor radio channel, the propagating medium for wireless local area networks (WLANs).

The relevant propagation parameters of the multipath channel are introduced and explained. A not so recondite nevertheless didactic review of the modelling and characterization studies is done. A survey of the various multipath mitigation techniques is done with particular emphasis on IWLANs supplemented by a listing of the references.
