A New Method of Synthesis of 4-N-Alkyl Substituted Cytosine Derivatives Via 4-N-Arylsulfonyl or Alkylsulfonyl Intermediates

Abstract

4-N-p-Toluenesulfonyl and 4-N-methanesulfonyl cyto-sine derivatives are easily prepared from O-protected cyto-sine nucleosides and corresponding sulfonyl chlorides and then converted in high yields into 4-N-alkyl derivatives by treatment with 1° amines under moderate conditions.
