Abstract

2′-Deoxyguanosine reacts with 4-nitrophenylsulphonylethene to give a protected nucleoside derivative. Deprotection can be achieved by treatment with concentrated aqueous ammonia. The applicability of the protective group is shown by the synthesis of dT₄G.
