Abstract
Modern computer generated reports often include a combination of text and graphic images. Recall plays an important role in managerial decision-making. This study reports the results of an experiment designed to investigate the impact of increasing the visual salience of an item of information, through the addition of a graphical image, on subsequent recall performance. The results of this study clearly demonstrate that the addition of a graphic image to a textual display can be used to significantly increase the recall of a specific item of information.
