Abstract
The aim of this article is to show some of the syntactic mismatches in translation of original Catalan sentences into English. The methodology is based on a comparison and classification of the syntactic realization of verbal arguments in both languages. We focus on the change in the number of arguments (additions or suppressions) and on the phenomena that cause these mismatches. At each match, we observe if there is any change in the order of arguments, be it in the grammatical function or in the grammatical category. We use examples extracted from an English‐Catalan Lexicon Project, which is developed by the Research Croup on Computational Linguistics at the University of Lleida.
