Acknowledgements

This special issue draws mainly on papers presented at the international workshop “Which regions benefit from emerging new industries? Evidence from photovoltaic and other high-tech industries” in September 2010. The workshop was jointly organized by the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) and the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena and brought together 40 researchers in fields of Innovation Economics, Evolutionary Economics and Economic Geography. The guest editors would like to thank the participants of the workshop, Ron Boschma for giving an excellent keynote and all reviewers for their comments that substantially improved the papers for this special issue.
