Abstract
The resistance in okra (Abelmoschus esculentus (L) Moench varieties to the leafhopper, Amrasca devastans (Dist.) is governed by nonpreference and antibiosis mechanisms. The variety A.E. 22 was less preferred for oviposition and feeding compared to the susceptible variety Pusa Sawani. The rate of multiplication of the insects on the resistant variety was low compared to the susceptible variety.
