Abstract
Mulberry bacterial blight was observed in the Sericulture Experimental area at the National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC), Islamabad. The organism was identified as Pseudomonas syringae pv. mori (Boyer and Lambert) Young et al. on the basis of biochemical, physiological tests and pathogenicity reactions. This is the first record of the pathogen in Pakistan, Out of 8 Moms spp. tested M. indica Husung China, Shine Ichinore, Gumji, Ichihie remained resistant, Japanese early moderately resistant; while M. latifolia and M. alba were susceptible in the field and in the laboratory tests.
