Pistacia atlantica Desf. known as Baneh in Iran, is the most economically important species for rural people in areas of natural forest. In this study the extracts of the fruits of Pistacia atlantica was fractionated by two methods of extraction, hydrodistillation in Clevenger's apparatus (HD) and solvent extraction (SE). Then volatile oils were analyzed by capillary gas chromatography, using flame ionization detector (GCFID) and capillary gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) detection. Oleic acid, palmitic acid and octadecanoic acid were the main components in the oil of P. atlantica.
