Abstract

This article numerically investigates the enhancement of heat transfer in a round corrugated channel using CuO-water in heat exchangers. The CuO-water nano-fluid volume fractions investigated are 0.01, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05, and 0.06, while the range of the Reynolds number is from 800 to 2100. Numerically, the discretization of the governing equations was carried out through the finite volume method. The flow was simulated using ANSYS CFD environment using the SIMPLE algorithm technique. The outcome of the study reveals that the enhancement in heat transfer and the Nusselt number increase proportionally with the Reynolds number and the volume fraction of the CuO nanoparticles. Additionally, an increase in the pressure-drop was observed with a decrease in temperature of the nano-fluid.
