Experimental investigation on friction formation during slot milling of Nimonic263

ABSTRACT

This analysis presents the outcome of Cutting Environment (CE) through wet and Minimum Quality Lubrication (MQL) over the formation of friction during the slot milling process of Nimonic 263 alloy. Because the establishment of Frictional Stress (FS) over the rake face entirely depends on the method of cutting environments (dry, wet and MQL) and the dispense of the smallest mineral components. In addition, the governing effect of machining parameters on the formation of friction and its transformation have been analyzed with the help of normal and friction pressure coefficients on the rake face. Through a relative study, it is found that the MQL cutting environment offers a better reduction in the friction followed by the wet and dry cutting environments, due to the formation of effective thin-film lubrication, wettability and penetrative strength of lubricating oil which leads to reduce the friction over the cutting zone.
