ON THE ABOLITION OF GRADING

Pages 289-307 | Published online: 13 Aug 2007

ABSTRACT

The author presents an alternative to traditional grading schemes. Instead of a point scoring system, feedback is a systematic set of comments. Formal grades are delayed until the end of the term. The system allows for challenging problems, novel assignments, and guided student participation in grading. Many students like this approach and focus on learning instead of grades.
