Abstract
A novel, simple, and rapid method is developed for separating water soluble active components in Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge and its pharmaceutical preparations by capillary zone electrophoresis with a diode array detector within 11 min under the optimal conditions. The repeatability (defined as relative standard deviation, RSD) was less than 4.45% with peak area evaluation and 2.13% with migration time evaluation. Regression equations revealed linear relationships (r: 0.9964–0.9987) between the peak area of each analyte and the concentration. The detection limits (S/N=3) of Protocatechuic Aldehyde, Danshensu, and Protocatechuic Acid were 0.46, 0.62, and 0.28 µg/mL, respectively. The proposed method has been satisfactorily applied to the analysis of water soluble active components in Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge and its pharmaceutical preparations with recoveries in the range of 94%–101%.
