Getting Lost: Site-specific performance and re-location

Pages 31-34 | Published online: 11 Mar 2010

Notes

1 Throughout the initial planning stages, questionnaires were issued to site-users, staff and the local communities regarding their relationship with the site. These responses were used to inform the creative process.

2 The term ‘energies’ is used here to describe the dancers’ phenomenological explorations and responses to the ‘energies’ of the foyer site. These energies were produced as a result of the everyday site-users’ movements, pathways and physical interactions. The kinetic effects, traces and resonances of these interactions were experienced corporeally by the performers and developed into performance material.

3 Audience questionnaires were completed after each performance allowing individuals to provide feedback regarding their experiences and feelings encountered during the performance event. The following are extracts from three audience questionnaires, The Library Dances project, September 2006.
