1 Today developmental science (Oerter and Montada Citation2002) has re-worded Piaget's phase model and pre-dated the beginnings of the sensory-motor phase into the pre-natal phase. However, Piaget's adaptation model of accommodation and assimilation is still utilized in current neuroscience (Hüther Citation2006).
