Abstract
The Socìetas Raffello Sanzio was founded in 1981 by Romeo and Claudia Castelluci, Paolo and Chiara Guldi. Under the direction of Romeo Castellucci the ensemble established a theatre school in 1988 (the Theatrical School of Descent) and a publishing house in Cesena where since 1995 their working place and site for public happenings has been the Comandini Theatre, an old mechanical school restored by the Socìetas. Amongst their many radical productions, they have shown work at the Venice Biennale—La Generalissima (1984); Documenta VIII—I Miserabili (1987); Weiner Festwochen -Amleto (1992); and Theater der Welt—O resteia (1996).
