Abstract

This paper outlines the collaborative goals and the six individual research aims of the performers who together developed The Presentation has been shelved, archived, forgotten, dusted, found, and renamed! The performers are: Suvadeep Das, Christina Georgiou, Sari TM Kivinen, Katariina Mylläri, Ilka Theurich and Tuuli Tubin. This paper is written about the collaboration from the perspective of Sari TM Kivinen.

With an emphasis on the theme of memory and different ways of remembering we were particularly interested in how – especially when improvising – we each perceive and subsequently remember the same performance differently. Some individual points of focus in the performance included: exploring how the body gives meaning to space through its actions; the relationship between performer and audience and how small differences in the performer's approach can affect the memories of the audience; and a consideration for how false interpretations can potentially become common histories. Whilst we each had individual starting points, the presentation weaved together our various perspectives, actions, theories and stories during a one hour performance experiment.
