2 The Occupy movement began in September 2011 on Wall Street in New York City as a protest against inequality, particularly with regards to income distribution, and corporate control of financial markets. Campsites were constructed in an attempt to ‘occupy’ space, using that space as a forum for protest. A month later, ‘Occupy Wall Street’, as it came to be called, found its counterparts in numerous cities across the world, thus forming the origin of a global protest movement. One part of this movement was Occupy LSX (London Stock Exchange)
