Evie Elson

Evie Elson is an 8th grade science teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also a fellow with Charlotte Teachers Institute, where she is enrolled in a seminar on Anti-Racist Pedagogy. She is currently designing an aligned curriculum unit for her science class next year, combining the study of epidemics and pandemics with a case study analysis of the impacts of COVID-19 on communities of color. After earning her B.A. in Political Science from Princeton University, Elson became a corps member of Teach for America and immediately began teaching. As she continues her career in education, she plans to develop her understanding and practice of what it means to be an anti-racist teacher.
