Abstract

Two small, convenient to wear, portable devices, one providing auditory feedback and one visual feedback, were used for reducing excessive vocal loudness in two adults with moderate mental retardation. The use of the devices was combined with reinforcement. The data showed that the two devices (the two types of feedback) in combination with the reinforcement were effective in reducing excessive vocal loudness and maintained their positive effects over time.
