Abstract
The author describes the use of movement in body psychotherapy, which evolved less directly from dance than did dance movement psychotherapy. This use of movement in body psychotherapy consists primarily of movement experiments and prescribed movement. She includes the use of movement of the face and eyes and movement in imagination (ideokinesis). Case examples are used to illustrate the concepts presented, and much of the material is drawn from her clinical experience. These movement techniques are useful but do not constitute psychotherapy unto themselves.
