Saili S. Kulkarni

Saili S. Kulkarni is an Assistant Professor of Special Education at San Jose State University. Her research seeks to understand how special education teachers of color understand beliefs about disability and race. Her recent publications look at issues of over/underrepresentation of Asian American students in special education, collaborative self-study methodology for democratic principles of teacher education, and disability studies frameworks for teacher education. She recently participated in the Curriculum Inquiry Writing Fellowship Program at University of Toronto and was invited to the Equity Leadership Institute as part of the Midwest Equity Alliance Center at University of Indiana-Purdue. Dr. Kulkarni completed her doctorate at University of Wisconsin-Madison with a focus on special education, international education and qualitative methodologies.
