Abstract

This manuscript shares results from an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis study of how nine transgender and/or gender expansive youth (TGEY), aged 13–17, experienced their gender identities and additional intersecting identities. Participants attended two 60–90 min semi-structured interviews. The findings explore all the other “things” that often get left out of studies on TGEY-who are they, apart from their gender identities? The main themes centered around interpersonal relationships (family, peers, and dating) and contextual factors (school, home, COVID-19, being generation Z, and politics). This manuscript is the fourth in a set of manuscripts exploring the genders, intersecting identities, and experiences of TGEY.
