Watching the daily happenings. Unveiling the values behind actions, appraising the teacher's doing

Resumen

Este texto se inscribe en el cuadro de una investigación sobre la integración de hijos de trabajadores extranjeros en la escuela francesa. El trabajo ha sido desarrollado en una perspectiva etnográfica donde se concibe a los sujetos de la investigación como actores sociales autónomos e interlocutores del investigador. En esta perspectiva se presentan dos incidentes filmados en clase, así como un análisis, que se efectuó conjuntament e con la profesora protagonista principal de estas escenas. Sobre la base del análisis de estos hechos observados, se desarrolla un análisis más amplio donde se relacionan los incidentes con los diversos contextos socio-históricos en los que se inscribe esa escuela en particular y la escuela francesa en general. Finalmente se plantea el desarrollo de este método de investigación como una posibilidad que tienen los maestros y profesores para emprender una reflexión individual y colectiva sobre sus práctica cotidianas.

Abstract

This text is inscribed within the framework of a research on foreign workers' children's integration in French school. This work has been developed from an ethnographic perspective in which the subjects are conceived as autonomous social actors and as the researcher's interlocutors. Two incidents that were film registered in class are presented, as well as an analysis that was made in cooperation with the teacher that played the lead in these scenes. Over the basis of the analysis of these observed facts', a more extensive analysis is developed in which the incidents are related to the diverse socio-historical contexts in which that particular school, and the whole of French schools, are inscribed. Finally, the development of this research method arises as a possibility to teachers of undertaking an individual and colective reflection on their daily work.
