Literature and Transactional Analysis: Huckleberry Finn: Almost Adult

Pages 357-359 | Published online: 28 Dec 2017

Abstract

Transactional Analysis can help us under-stand a novel such as Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn more fully. Using TA, we can see just how un-equal the relationship between Huckleberry Finn and the slave Jim is. More importantly, TA can show us just how close Huck Finn comes to breaking out of the cultural script which dictates this unequal relationship.
