The Psychodynamic Approach to Transactional Analysis

Pages 187-192 | Published online: 28 Dec 2017

Abstract

The authors propose recovering the original psychoanalytic basis of transactional analysis with the goal of targeting script control. A psychoanalytic cure can be achieved by reorienting the ego state of the confused Child. A coherent application of the psychodynamic transactional approach is offered based on the following: (1) a theoretical model of the transference relationship, (2) a clinical methodology, and (3) a consequent intervention strategy.
