Abstract
This article provides an overview and a synthesis of academic and popular press literature on pre-retirement planning for women. Despite an exhaustive literature search, existing research in this area continues to be sparse. It is unfortunate that the popular press continues to ignore the dramatic need to alert and inform women of their need to engage in early planning for Ule later years. Specific attention is devoted herein to the articulation of current economic, social and public policies, as well as healUlconcerns-all needing further empirical examination. h addition, current "state-of-the-art" information is given about developing educational programs for women prior to retirement.
