Abstract
Successful aging in relation to older entrepreneurship is examined. Changing demographies of today's society cause greater concentrations of aging persons with less income resources. Therefore, more alternatives for securing additional income are needed Home-based businesses may be a viable employment option for older women. Forty-one entrepreneurs were interviewed. Five case studies of older females adapting to major life changes were drawn from the larger sample and are presented. Five major themes associated with successful aging of older entrepreneurs emerged: (a) autonomy; (b) independence; (c) self-reliance; (d) personal effectiveness; and (e) intergenerational support.
