Abstract

This study, based on the self report of 103 adult daughters, explores the relationship between family and personal characteristics of adult daughters and the anticipation of providing care to aging mothers. Findings insdicate that proximity between mothers and daughters, health of daughter and age of mother are among the important variables that are significantly related to anticipated care-giving. Additionally, this study documents early entry into the anticipation process and empirical evidence for the complexity of this issue.
