ABSTRACT
This study analyzed retirement savings of women in the 50s age cohort in relation to their work history, marital status, income level, education, family/household composition, and occupation. Three categories of retirement savings, IRAs, Keoghs and pension plans; liquid assets including money market and mutual funds and certificates of deposit; and total retirement savings were analyzed. All variables studied revealed significance as predictors for one or more of the categories of retirement savings. These findings can be used to assist women in planning for retirement.
