ABSTRACT
Very little is known about anorexia among older adults. Since there is controversy and discussion about anorexia and aging, further research needs to be done. This article will discuss the anorexia of aging, followed by a discussion of normal physiological changes and normal neurotransmitter regulation of food. Anorexia will also be addressed as a symptom of other diseases. Biochemical theories are reviewed along with the impact of physical, social and psychological variables. The discussion section examines the implications, identification and treatment of anorexia of aging.
