Workload Measurement

An Approach for Hospital Libraries

Pages 1-10 | Received 21 Mar 2005, Accepted 05 Apr 2005, Published online: 08 Sep 2008

Abstract

Though productivity measurement has been practiced in hospitals since the 1960s, librarians have not historically used productivity as a measure. This article suggests that productivity is a viable tool for hospital librarians to use when communicating with administrators. It provides guidelines for making the process less painful and time-consuming and notes that the process can be used in libraries of any size.
