Abstract

There has been progress in the understanding of the natural history of Alzheimer‘s disease from populations at risk to prodromal stages and then on to mild, moderate and severe stages of dementia. Treatments appropriate for each stage are available or are undergoing testing. It is possible that a similar approach will be useful in vascular dementia, mixed Alzheimer‘s disease/vascular disease, Parkinson‘s disease dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and fronto–temporal dementia.
